We rode into the hills of Aguanga and at the top of the hill we could see beautiful Vail Lake. It was a spectacular December day in SoCal; crisp, cool and breezy… just perfect for trail riding. . . It snowed pretty good just a few days after this.
Location: in the hills above Vail Lake, Temecula/Aguanga area, California, USA in December 2010.
I shot both photos with my Kodak EZS Z915 while sitting on Elvis, my friend Terri’s horse.
Digital processing in PSCS2 using a DAP layer overlay. Also enhanced using blend layers, masking & textures. Filters included the Fractalius on a blending layer. Painted with a Wacom tablet to create a soft effect.
Other resources: Texture from SkeletalMess – thank you….

Gorgeous work Rhonda. Such a beautiful area. This is one of the things I miss most from my younger days.
Rhonda Strickland replied:
Thanks Bunny! We camped here recently (no horses) and it is a nice area. Just all the campgrounds were a very long way from the lake. It was fun though :)
